Zenova recently spent the day with Andy Elliott where a range of trials were undertaken on Zenova’s different fire protection and prevention solutions.

Who is Andy Elliott? Andy is a career fire fighter who has given his entire adult life to fighting and understanding the different dynamics and characteristics of fires. Over the years he has become a highly respected individual in the firefighting world. His local Government career started in 1984 as a Countryside Ranger and he is currently, among other roles, a National Wildfire Tactical Advisor and member of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) Wildfire Group. He is also a Technical Expert in Wildfires with the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Over the years Andy has been involved in wildfire research in the UK, Europe and South Africa, where he has spent time working in the Kruger National Park in South Africa understanding the impact that wildfires can have on the delicate biodiversity of the region. He has also worked on wildfires in the USA, most notably the Valley Fire in California during 2015. Andy is also a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Exeter within the Wildfire Lab and runs his own Wildfire and Training Consultancy business.

Several different trials were conducted on the Zenova fire protection and prevention solutions by Andy and his colleagues; however, the highlight of the day was witnessing the exceptional fire protection and prevention properties of Zenova WB. The product can be utilized as both a wildfire barrier; applied via spray wands or aerial drops which, once applied, provides a virtual barrier where fire simply will not burn, and as an extinguisher, where, if applied to a burning area will extinguish the fire and prevent reignition.

Over the course of the day Zenova WB was put through its paces with multiple real-world scenarios. Each time Zenova WB proved its effectiveness, at not only putting the fire out or stopping the fire from spreading, but also preventing further ignition. The outcome of these trials showcases the seemingly endless possible uses of Zenova WB, from national parks in Africa to the vast wilderness regions of Australia and North America.

For Andy the possibilities of Zenova WB go beyond simply stopping a fire spread but also into equipping fire fighters who fight wildfires on the front lines; enabling them to more effectively extinguish these fires. His insights, and those from our other research partners, are helping to ensure that Zenova WB is a trusted and effective fire prevention solution for both preventative and reactive scenarios.
