The manufacturer declares on its own responsibility that the extinguisher, meets the requirements of the EU Pressure Directive PED 2014/68/EU and MED 2014/90/UE (products marked with a steering wheel) and their transposition into national law. Please read and follow the information below regarding the safe operation of the extinguisher.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

1. Product description

The extinguisher has been manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the standard series EN 3 and is intended for extinguishing small fires by both professional personnel and any trained user. The type of extinguisher, the type of fire to be extinguished and the name of the extinguishing agent are indicated on the label.

2. Directions for use

Use the extinguisher in an upright position, aiming the discharge nozzle at the base of fire. Extinguish from a distance of 1 to 2 m from the fire. The method of activation is indicated in the form of pictograms on the extinguisher label.

3. Technical data

Each extinguisher is labelled with user information on:

  • Type and size of fires extinguished;
  • Quantity and type of extinguishing agent;
  • Operating (and storage) temperature range;
  • Nominal working pressure at 20°C or;
  • Mass of carrier gas stored in extinguisher or in the charge (e.g. CO₂).

The specified values must be strictly observed. In no case shall the values in practice be higher or lower than those indicated on the label. Extinguishers that do not meet these requirements should be returned for repair.

4. General safety information

  • It is a matter of priority to comply with national regulations on the handling of fire extinguishers.
  • Use should be in accordance with the intended use as described by the pictograms on the label.
  • Do not aim extinguishing agent directly at persons. Maintain a minimum distance of 1 m when extinguishing burning persons.
  • Place the fire extinguisher out of reach of children.
  • The extinguisher cylinder may be pressurized, do not expose the extinguisher to external forces.
  • No changes by welding or soldering are allowed, damaged cylinders and cylinders with visible corrosion are not repairable.
  • Do not expose the extinguishers to direct sunlight or other sources of heat or to adverse chemical and atmospheric influences. The CO₂ valves have been replaced by fuses which have been streamlined before the pressure was improved.
  • It is recommended to mount fire extinguishers in appropriate brackets. In motor vehicles it is absolutely necessary to fix in special holders designed by the manufacturer and preventing the fire extinguisher from falling out.
  • Keep the extinguisher clean, do not use aggressive cleaning agents. Use a damp cloth for ongoing maintenance.
  • Repair of extinguishers and their decommissioning should only be carried out in authorised service centres.

5. Service life

Company OGNIOCHRON S.A. specified for its fire extinguishers, marked with CE sign, life span of maximum 20 years, provided that periodic inspections are carried out by an authorised service centre. Fire extinguishers cylinders containing CO₂ are subject to periodic inspections every 10 years.

The hazard assessment and consideration of the operating conditions require the user to determine the service life of the equipment on an individual basis. In addition, the following maintenance activities are recommended as part of the supervision of the pressure equipment:

  • annual external examination of the extinguisher;
  • at least every 5 years - internal visual inspection of the tank, extinguishing agent, threaded connections and valve.

Inspection may only be carried out by a service workshop authorised by the manufacturer.

In cases of doubt, tests shall be carried out in accordance with national regulations.

In case of defects identified as unacceptable in the service manuals, the cylinders (extinguishers) shall be scrapped.

6. Warranty conditions

The extinguisher manufacturer provides a warranty for the product within 24 months from the date of manufacture.
